There are over 900 standards of practice that Lakeside must maintain competency to ensure our American Animal Hospital Association accreditation remains valid. Each of the standards falls into one of the following areas of practice.
Anesthesia: how do we assess your pet’s anesthetic needs and is our equipment appropriate and up-to-date.
Client Service: do we communicate well with you through all aspects of our relationship?
Contagious Disease: do we have protocols, processes, and facilities in place to handle contagious diseases and avoid outbreaks?
Continuing Education: do we value continuing education and provide tools and opportunities to our staff members?
Dentistry: are we practicing safe dental procedures that protect both your pet and our staff members.
Diagnostic Imaging: are we using adequate equipment, generating quality diagnostic images, and utilizing proper procedures and equipment to protect our staff from radiation?
Emergency/Urgent Care: do we have equipment and processes in place for emergency situations
Examination Facilities: are we properly equipped for thorough examinations?
Housekeeping/Maintenance: do we provide a clean, sanitary facility for your pet and our staff?
Human Resources: are we equipped to handle personnel matters effectively?
Laboratory: do we provide effective laboratory services to ensure your pet gets a prompt diagnosis
Leadership: are the leaders of our organization committed to providing the highest quality of care and creating a positive work environment for our staff?
Medical Records: are we providing continuity of care through the details we include in our medical records?
Pain Management: are our staff trained to assess and manage your pet’s pain appropriately?
Patient Care: are we providing human and advantageous care to your pet throughout his visit
Pharmacy: do we have processes and procedures in place for the proper handling, storage, and dispensing of medications?
Safety: is our environment safe for you, your pet, and our team?
Surgery: are we providing a safe, aseptic environment for your pet’s procedure with appropriate pre and post-operative considerations?
